According to Collider, “Wish” continues to thrive at the worldwide box office, amassing $223.4 million, with a substantial $160.4 million from international markets like Spain, Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Despite its international success, the film struggled domestically, earning only $31 million during its Thanksgiving weekend release. While it has exhibited some staying power by doubling its domestic total, it still stands at just $63 million, significantly lower than its global performance.

The film’s resilience in international markets is promising, especially as “Wish” prepares for its Video On Demand (VOD) release on January 23. This digital release could mark a potential streaming renaissance for the film, offering a second chance for audiences to connect with its enchanting narrative. Although the worldwide box office indicates momentum, “Wish” faces the challenge of turning a profit, given its reported budget of $200 million for an original animated musical.

While the financial outlook may appear challenging, there’s a glimmer of hope for “Wish.” The upcoming VOD release provides an opportunity for at-home viewership, potentially turning the tide for the film’s overall success. The journey of “Wish” may take an intriguing turn as it transitions from theaters to digital platforms, offering audiences a chance to discover its magic beyond the confines of traditional box office expectations.
