Will Marvel’s Squirrel Girl See the Same Success as Deadpool After Online Video Leak? It seems impossible to think that the Ryan Reynolds led Deadpool franchise was nearly shelved before a massively viral video leak garnished so much attention online that Fox could not ignore the call for creation by fans of the “Merc with a Mouth” and now, thanks to a video leak featuring test footage of Milana Vayntrub as the iconic superhero Squirrel Girl.
The test footage was shared (and swiftly removed) from Twitter by the currently shelved New Warriors project showrunner and writer Kevin Biegel and featured a good look at Milana Vayntrub in the live-action role. It should be noted, Milana also voices Squirrel Girl in the Marvel Rising animated series now available on Disney+. Marvel fans are loving her performance and are now calling for Disney to greenlight the project for Disney+ as a new live-action series for Marvel Studios now that the studio has the rights to the character after the acquisition of Fox.

Another good point suggested by ScreenRant is the possibility of Milana Vayntrub’s Squirrel Girl appearing in the upcoming Deadpool 3 film, potentially as an antagonist. Squirrel Girl and Deadpool are known to have confrontations in the comics as she is one of a handful of heroes who can take Wade Wilson on in a fight and usually win out in the end, forcing DP to listen or take action alongside other Marvel heroes.
Should Disney follow in Fox’s footsteps, Marvel Studios could have an excellent way to bring in a beloved comic book and animated series character into the MCU. With an introduction to the next generation of heroes such as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, America Chavez/Miss America, Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Riri Williams/Ironheart, Cassie Lang/Stinger (or Stature), and the rumored additions of other Young Avengers members such as Wiccan, Speed, Patriot, Iron Lad, Vision, and Kid Loki, in the coming live-action shows and movies, a Squirrel Girl series would be an exciting way to see these young heroes stories converge in the MCU without having to give each and every character an origin story.

The new members being passed the baton from a more experienced hero such as Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Riri Williams will need a deeper dive into their stories for us to know they are ready to take on the mantles, while some newer faces may just need a simple introduction before jumping right into the action.
