Once Bob Iger announced that he would be stepping down as CEO of Disney rumors started to swirl on who his replacement would be. Today, internet reports are indicating current Chairman of Disney Parks & Resorts, Bob Chapek, has emerged as the front-runner for the position.
Chapek has been with the Disney Company for over 24 years and held several roles with the company during that time. Most recently, he was appointed to Chairman of Disney Parks & Resorts in February of 2015. Since that time he successfully launched Shanghai Disneyland which welcomed over 11 million while turning a profit its first year of being open. Chapek is also credited with his branch of the company of being only one of the four main branches that turned a profit and increased sales during the 2017 fiscal year.
Chapek was also the main driving force behind the exciting projects announced at this past summer’s D23 Expo. He most recently announced that the budget for the Parks & Resorts Division will expand by about $1 billion for the 2018 fiscal year.
Disney has not confirmed Chapek will indeed be the new CEO so keep following along with us for the latest.
