ABC’s ‘Shifting Gears’ Premieres January 8th: Tim Allen Leads Family Comedy
ABC has released a trailer for its new multi-cam comedy, “Shifting Gears,” starring Tim Allen as a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. The series, set to premiere on January 8th, follows Allen’s character as he navigates the challenges of family and unexpected life changes.

Kat Dennings joins the cast as Allen’s daughter, who, along with her children, moves into his home. The ensemble cast also includes Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. Jenna Elfman will have a recurring role as Eve Drake, a spirited choreographer and owner of a dance studio.
“Shifting Gears” was initially picked up to series with writers Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, but ABC ultimately decided to move forward with Michelle Nader as the showrunner. Nader previously worked with Dennings on the comedies “2 Broke Girls” and “Dollface.”
The series, produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, promises to be a heartwarming and humorous exploration of family dynamics and second chances.
