Who wouldn’t want to own a piece of Disney History? How about living in a home where Walt Disney himself entertained friends, family, and esteemed guests, including the fabulous Lucille Ball?

In the 1950s and 60s the Disney family owned a secluded home in the California Palm desert, that hosted parties with high profile Hollywood A-listers. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were among some of the Hollywood elite that hung out in the laid back desert atmosphere of Disney’s Palm Springs home.

Walt loved the Palm Springs desert and was a major contributor to Smoke Tree Ranch, an upscale enclave of homes surrounded by rustic charm and ocotillo plants. Walt bought his first Palm Springs home in 1948, but sold it in 1954 to help fund what many of his fellow desert dwellers said would be a colossal flop: Disneyland. However Disney never gave up his dream, and eventually was able to purchase another home in Palm Springs, which he even offered a sign up sheet at the studios, for people wanting to use it when the Disney family was not. This area of the Californian desert is steeped in Disney history, he even lent the talent of his studio set designers for many Smoke Tree Ranch guest cabin designs. You won’t see Mickey Mouse parading around the town, but many of these guest homes are listed as “Disney Cottages”.

Many stars used Smoke Tree Ranch as a get away from the hustle of celebrity life, but Walt was a contributing part of this casual secluded community. This beautiful 1 bedroom home overlooking the Coachella Valley may have a glamorous past, but it’s also a less talked about walk in Walt’s footsteps. Available for $535,000, it is 1,600 square feet and sits on 2.79 acres of land, you can view the listing over on Bankrate.com.
