Walt Disney World Railroad Track and Train Testing is underway at the Magic Kingdom for the Disney World Railroad. Since December 2018 we have waited for this day! It has been a long journey, which we have written about in the past and you can read it here. Well today, as huge fans of the Walt Disney World Railroad, we can celebrate a major milestone.
Today at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad made its first full weighted run around the whole park, stopping at each station. We noticed early in the day that Conductors, Cast Members who operate the train at Disney, gathering around the Fantasyland station. It took a little time, but the wait was worth it as the Walter E. Disney Steam Engine came chugging down the tracks loaded with what seemed like every train car Disney owns.
Once we got video and images of the first appearance of the day at the station, we ran to Main Street Station. It was such an amazing scene when the first whistle went off and the crowd entering the park, broke into spontaneous applause as the Locomotive came into sight. Not embellishing anything, they actually cheered and clapped.

Walt’s Lifelong Passion
A noted train enthusiast, Walt Disney built his very first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, debuted in 1950 and featured a custom-built, steam-powered locomotive that encircled his property.
Delighted with his miniature backyard railroad, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, a favorite of Guests since the park opened in 1955.
