It’s spring season and Easter weekend has arrived! Walt Disney World is showing us how they’re keeping the magic alive with a recent donation of beautiful flowers. Walt Disney World cast members surprised 200 local seniors with Easter lilies. The Easter lilies were originally intended for Walt Disney World’s theme parks and resorts. But then a cast member, Michelle Giger Rohrmann, had a fantastic idea! Michelle managers the nursery where Easter lilies are grown for Disney. She didn’t want the Easter lilies to go to waste simply because they no longer had any reason to decorate the theme parks with flowers. Instead, the cast members wanted to find another way to spread some springtime cheer!
The Easter lilies were gifted to both Osceola Council on Aging and Meals on Wheels. The flowers were delivered to local elderly residents living near Walt Disney World.
Michelle expressed herself in saying what the Easter lily flowers mean to her and her fellow horticulture cast members:
“To me, the lily is really symbolic of springtime – after a long, hard winter, the first thing to pop up is a lily. It’s a good representation of how we’ll come out of this together. We’ll pull through this. Better days are on their way.”
It’s great to hear that Disney cast members can still find ways to bring joy to people’s lives even when the Disney Parks are closed.
