Walt Disney Imagineering Shows a Glimpse Inside Test Track Refurb

Walt Disney Imagineering recently shared an exciting glimpse into the reimagining of Test Track at EPCOT via a video released on their official Instagram account. The video highlights Tessa, a show set designer whose architectural expertise is shaping the ride’s reimagined interior experience. While the primary focus of the video is on Tessa’s inspiring journey to becoming a Disney Imagineer and the pivotal role of show set designers, fans also caught a sneak peek at the massive overhaul underway inside the ride. From what’s visible, Test Track appears to be undergoing extensive interior work as it prepares for its next evolution.

Announced during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, this collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Chevrolet promises to push innovation forward while celebrating humanity’s enduring drive (pun intended) on the thrilling road to a brighter tomorrow. But the reimagined Test Track isn’t just looking ahead—it’s also paying homage to today’s innovation and the milestones of the past. Guests can expect an all-new queue experience, featuring six distinct exhibits that celebrate groundbreaking vehicles and the visionary people behind them.

Once onboard, riders will embark on a joyride through immersive new show scenes. These will highlight advances in technology, personalization, and customization before transitioning to an outdoor scenic route that celebrates the pure joy of driving. This thoughtful blend of past, present, and future innovation connects riders with the universal human drive to explore, move, and connect with the world around us.

For those who love a bit of nostalgia, the exterior of the pavilion offers a subtle nod to its roots, with design elements that harken back to the original pavilion’s architecture. Test Track’s third iteration promises to be its most ambitious yet, evolving from the 1999 original and the 2012 “version 2.0” update (the YouTube video below highlights the journey from Test Track 1.0 to Test Track 2.0). Construction is already well underway, and eagle-eyed visitors to EPCOT may have noticed the changes taking shape.
