Disney is being sued by a German consumer rights group over Disney+ price increase.
According to Forbes, German Verbraucherzentrale Brandenburg (VZB) Consumer Advocacy Group has initiated legal proceedings against Disney on the grounds that the apparent provision in the Disney+ contract for increasing prices unilaterally and without any restrictions at the expense of customers is (according to a translation from the original German phrasing) ‘a clear violation of the legal regulations’.

The German Advocacy Group tested Disney by issuing a press release about their case against them as a warning. When The Walt Disney Company failed to respond, VBZ initiated proceedings at Potsdam District Court.
The VZB explanation goes on to say that while consumers did have the option of rejecting the price change, it wasn’t clear what the specific consequences of that rejection might be. What’s more, the VZB maintains that pricing clauses must name cost elements that can lead to an increase; they can’t merely enable companies to increase profits.
They claim Disney did not specify the consequences of that particular rejection. The Walt Disney Company has not given a statement about the lawsuit yet.
