There are so many changes and upgrades coming to the Walt Disney World parks and resorts in the coming years. We just got some news for those who have purchased the personalized “Disney’s Walk Around the World” hexagonal bricks near the Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center. They will soon will be retired and the remaining bricks will be removed in future phases. The bricks, part of “Disney’s Walk Around the World,” were committed to be on display until 2011.
The bricks were not designed to be removed so they will not be available to take home. Anyone who had sponsored a brick may purchase a commemorative version between now and Aug. 31, 2019.
Guests who sponsored a brick and would like to get a souvenir version should do the following:
If visiting in person:
- Starting March 18, Guests can stop by City Hall at Magic Kingdom Park or Guest Relations at Disney Springs to verify their previous brick by sharing the name and hometown of the Guest who sponsored it.
- After verification, they will be given a one-time use voucher to present by, or before Aug. 31, 2019, at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. (at Magic Kingdom Park – separate theme park admission required) or the Marketplace Co-Op (at Disney Springs), enabling you to purchase one commemorative 6” brick at a special price of $10 (plus tax).
If a Guest can’t come to the park in person:
- Guests should email guest.services@disneyworld.com or call 407-828-2701 with the name and hometown of the Guest who sponsored the brick.
- After verification, they will be provided a code to use by, or before Aug. 31, 2019, on shopDisney.com to purchase one commemorative 6” brick at a special price of $10 (plus tax and shipping) starting this spring. This code is for one-time use and will only be valid on shopDisney.com and may not be redeemed in person or at any other location. (Limit one voucher or code per verified Guest.)
Also available to any Guests, not just those who originally sponsored a brick in “Disney’s Walk Around the World,” will be a 6” brick ($29.99 plus tax – available now), 8” brick ($49.99 plus tax – available now) and ornament ($24.99 plus tax – on sale soon), all with customization included. These are at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. (at Magic Kingdom Park) or the Marketplace Co-Op (at Disney Springs), or on shopDisney.com starting this spring.

We purchased our brick back in 1994, one of the first ones because it is close to the gray/white ones. Contract stated 10 years. It was bound to happen. My brick has deteriorated but not as much as the others nearby. Taken many pics of our brick, made magnets and created a mousepad.
Ok but WHEN is this happening? My grandparents who are no longer with us have a brick there – my sister and I are planning to go back to Disney in January and I’d love to at least see it in its proper place one final time 🙁
I don’t recall getting any information that the brick we purchased had an expiration date. I only recall the cast member mentioning that during a certain length of time ( like 5 years ), damaged bricks would be replaced, but after a certain date after purchase any damaged bricks would be removed. That didn’t include damage caused by Jackhammers by Disney. If there was a clause in the paperwork we did receive I wish the Cast Member would have made that clear. The Brick we purchased was a Wedding Anniversary Gift for our parents. While we lost Dad a number of years ago, Mom who just turned 100, hoped to go back to Disney to see both their Brick and their Epcot Leave a Legacy. This is extremely disappointing.
Give me 10 minutes with a pry bar and I can save them the trouble of destroying our brick that’s been a part of our Disney experience for 25 years. Not cool at all Disney!
Sad day. My dad purchased a brick for his family as a legacy. My parents are no longer with us. This was one way their light continued to shine as they loved WDW. Not a good thing Disney
This is very upsetting. It would only take me 15 minuets to get my brick out of the ground. They should at least give us the option.
This is sad… We purchased the bricks initially – and not a small price – now we should pay again. The least you could do is pay for the shipping for those who Can’t get down there.
Also would like to know if all the bricks are being demolished ? I have one on pathway between Contemporary and Magic Kingdom closer to Magic Kingdom. Why are they doing this?
There is a cast member circle right in front of the train station for the bricks. Are these also being impacted?
