‘The Walking Dead’ Star Wants to Play Wolverine in the MCU

'The Walking Dead' Star Wants to Play Wolverine in the MCU

Walking Dead Star Wants to Play Wolverine in the MCU. Former The Walking Dead star and current lead in Prodigal Son, Tom Payne is ready to take up the claws of Wolverine for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Payne recently spoke with ComicBook and shared that he would love to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine after the acquisition of Fox by Disney. The merger has opened the door for characters previously owned by Fox, such as the X-Men and Deadpool, to enter into the MCU and now many actors are expressing their interest in various roles, but Payne has consistently wanted to take up the claws, and is even prepared to bulk up if he get’s “the call” from Marvel Studios.

“I’ve told [ComicBook] this before but I think I could be a more height appropriate Wolverine,” Payne shared on Talking Shop with ComicBook, “I think because I’m a smaller person. I can’t remember what episode it is but there’s an episode of Prodigal Son where I wake up in my underwear and, you can see, I can put the beef on! I can do it, definitely. Hugh Jackman, he’s so tall and big, he had to eat so much. It’s like Chris Hemsworth [Thor]. You have to eat so much and spend so much money on food. I think I would have to work out a bit less but, still, it’s a huge thing.”

Marvel Studios has not made any formal announcements about Wolverine’s presence in the MCU, but rumor has it, the X-Men are set to make their first appearance in Captain Marvel 2, presumably with Wolverine first appearing as a villain for the film.

Other casting rumors indicate Henry Cavill or Charlie Hunnam may be up for the role of Logan/Wolverine, with fans pushing for Danny Devito to play the role (yes, really), but no formal casting choices have been announced at this time. Only time will tell if these rumors are true, but we can’t wait to see who will play Wolverine for Marvel Studios!
