The Toy Fair in NYC has been revealing new toys, games, and more and we have been on hand to cover all things Disney! Yesterday we stopped by the Ravensburger booth and took a look at all of the games and puzzles currently out and all those coming this year. We were introduced once again to the truly evil game, “Villainous, the Worst Takes It All.”
This game of strategy takes you into the world from the villain point of view and allows you to plot your way to victory using heroes and villains. The art on the cards, game pieces, and box itself are beautiful. They are designed by Ravensburger, the German based company that has released this really fun game.
Each player chooses their villain and plays to win using knowledge of Disney and strategy. The villains all come with their own strategy guide that gives you all the information you need to play your turn. This Maleficent guide was my favorite.
In the new Villainous game, you are the Villain! You can command your henchmen, defeat the heroes, and enact your evil scheme. In Villainous, the story-based game play allows players to experience events from the classic Disney films, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan in exciting new ways. Each Villain plays differently, offering rich strategy to explore, surprising combinations to discover, and plenty of replay value. To play, move to a spot on your board and take actions based on your options at that location – actions will allow you to gain power, play cards, and defeat heroes. But, being a true Villain requires strategic interference with your opponents’ goals. Use other players’ Fate cards featuring heroes and other meddlesome objects, to prevent them from reaching their objectives. Be the first to achieve your Villain’s devious objective and you win!
The original 4 Captain Hook, Ursula, Maleficent, and Prince John game pieces are unique to the game as well.
There is a new expansion pack that is coming out later this year and is already on pre-order. It includes even more villains!
The game is extremely intricate and a great way for those to get their Disney on while playing a fun interactive game. It is recommended for 10+ so it isn’t a game you would want to do with little ones. Take a look at the full explanation of the game as well as the release dates for the expansion pack here:
