Villain has been Cast for the New Spider-Man Movie

Good news all you Spider-Man fans. A Villain has been Cast for the New Spider-Man Movie. Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play Mysterio.

Gyllenhall beat out Ryan Gosling for the villain role. Gosling apparently has a scheduling conflict that made him pull out of the running.  A source online: “Producers were keen to sign Ryan but he was busy filming another project. Jake is a suitable alternative with experience of playing villainous characters.”

The 37 year old actor is cast opposite Tom Holland is returning as the web slinger. This is Holland’s second stand a long film in the Marvel cinematic universe. Holland, 21, will be making his fourth appearance as Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego in the film, having most recently appeared as Spidey in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Mysterio is one of several iconic Spider-Man villains created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. Mysterio made his first appearance issue #13 of comic book ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ in 1964. The first and most high-profile incarnation of Mysterio is Quentin Beck, although several other characters have since used the Mysterio alias.

Shooting on the MCU blockbuster is due to begin in London in June.
