Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction Levels Up with First Support Columns at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Monstropolis is officially rising from the Monsters Inc construction site at Walt Disney World, and things are starting to look seriously scream-worthy. New aerial views from X user bioreconstruct reveal that the first vertical support columns have now been installed for the upcoming door vault coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, marking a major milestone as the project shifts from groundwork to vertical construction.

Five tall black support pillars are now standing on the massive concrete foundation, offering the first real glimpse at just how towering this attraction will be. Around the site, additional coaster components, including more supports and sections of track, are staged backstage, ready to be installed as work continues. The foundation itself is still a hive of activity, with crews laying rebar, installing electrical conduits, and prepping multiple concrete pads for future track supports and structural elements.

Heavy equipment, including a large concrete boom pump, is positioned on site, signaling that more pours are imminent as the footprint of this attraction continues to expand. The scale here is hard to overstate, with the sprawling layout already stretching across what was once Muppets Courtyard, soon to be fully transformed into the vibrant city of Monstropolis.

Inspired by the iconic door vault sequence from Monsters, Inc., this new coaster is set to be a first for Disney, featuring both a suspended ride system and a vertical lift. That combination alone puts it firmly in E-ticket territory and positions it as one of the most ambitious additions to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in years.

For guests visiting the parks now, there is even a bit of bonus magic in the making. Portions of the backstage staging area, including some coaster pieces, can reportedly be spotted from the Disney Skyliner, offering a unique bird’s-eye view of the early construction progress.

While it is still early days, the arrival of these first supports is a clear sign that the doors to Monstropolis are beginning to swing open. And if this pace keeps up, it will not be long before this coaster starts looking less like a construction site and more like a full-blown laugh factory in motion.
