Update on MyMagic+: You will be able to talk to Mickey!

mm

Everyone has been talking about and looking forward to the new MyMagic+ technology coming to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida sometime this year! Well, today I have an update on the MyMagic+ technology to share with you!

Walt Disney World’s new Magic bands are expected to become available sometime this summer, but they serve as so much more than just your theme park ticket. The Magic bands will be your park ticket, itinerary, and even your wallet. The latest feature we’re hearing about with the MyMagic+ technology is that your Magic bands will even allow you to talk to Mickey Mouse and the gang!

Disney has announced that the new RFID wristbands will even allow some of your favorite characters to know your names and acknowledge special events you may be celebrating such as birthdays!

  1. I fear change – LOL! Not looking forward to this. We’ll be going in November and are annual pass holders. Last I heard, Annual Pass Holders were supposed to exchange their tickets for wristbands at Odyssey in Epcot by a certain date in May 2013- I have not heard the latest as to where we are supposed to exchange our tickets for wristbands now that it’s after that date. However, now that I see the latest post below (thanks, Kelly!) – sounds like the wrist bands might be on hold for now. So maybe the kinks still won’t be worked out yet by the time we get there this November. In any case, sometimes, change is good – I may fear it, but ultimately, when we all get used to it, maybe we’ll all be fine with it and it’ll all work out! Disney usually doesn’t make too many colossal mistakes – and they are known for being on the cutting edge, which is one of the reasons we benefit so much from their awesome park services and park entertainment!

  2. Not interested. Too many companies are keeping track of too much info on us. I prefer privacy. I do not want even disney to know when i go into a certain part of the magic kingdom or when i eat or when and how long I
    go to the bathroom.

  3. I talk to Mickey and the gang EVERY time I see them. Most people do, so I’m not sure what the big deal is. If you’re trying to tell me that the bands will allow Mickey and the gang to verbalize back – an entirely different story than what is posted here – then that’s MUCH more exciting.

  4. We just got back and asked about the bands. We were told that the bands are back on the drawing board. They had way too many complications with the bands and they are not sure when the bands will be available. Just thought I would pass that along.
