Universal Studios Store Expansion Construction Update – November 2024

Excitement continues to build at Universal CityWalk as construction progresses on the eagerly anticipated expansion of the Universal Studios Store. Announced in September, this ambitious project will greatly expand the footprint of store by adding two new dedicated areas for fans of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Super Nintendo World. With an expected opening in May 2025—perfectly timed with the debut of Universal’s Epic Universe—the expansion promises to bring even more magic and adventure to Universal Orlando Resort.

A Magical Addition
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter section will feature merchandise from all three lands at Universal Orlando, including Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and the upcoming Ministry of Magic, set to open in Epic Universe. Fans can look forward to an enchanting shopping experience filled with wizarding robes, wands, and house-themed gear. Additionally, a new dedicated Butterbeer counter will be introduced, offering guests a chance to indulge in their favorite wizarding treat alongside other specialty items.

A Super Expansion
The Super Nintendo World area will capture the vibrant and whimsical spirit of the beloved Nintendo video games. The entrance will reportedly be designed to resemble the colorful landscapes from the world of Mario and friends, welcoming guests into a treasure trove of character-themed merchandise. Shoppers can expect to find items featuring Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and more—a perfect preview of the magic coming to Epic Universe in 2025.

Construction Progress
Since the announcement, significant progress has been made on the site. The former locations of Cinnabon and Quiet Flight Surf Shop were completely demolished to make way for the expansion. Framework for the new store sections is now in place, and ongoing electrical and preparatory work suggests that construction is well on track. While the site is still a bustling construction zone, the glimpses of progress hint at the exciting additions to come.

What’s Next?
With the expansion slated to open in May 2025, the countdown to this new shopping experience has officially begun. Universal Orlando has promised immersive environments and exclusive merchandise that will make these store areas must-visit destinations. Whether you’re a wizard, a gamer, or just a fan of unique souvenirs, this revamped Universal Studios Store is shaping up to be a highlight of Universal CityWalk.
