Earlier this year Universal announced that construction on its new theme park, Epic Universe, had been delayed. It has now been revealed that the construction is paused until “the future is more certain.”
Comcast announced today that it had a theme park revenue decline of 94 percent in the second quarter. That is not surprising since the theme parks were closed for an extended period due to COVID-19. Universal’s theme park division generated $87 million in the second quarter this year. That is down from the $1.46 billion earned in the same time period of 2019.
There has been no announcement for when construction might resume on Epic Universe.
