Fast & Furious Coaster Now Testing at Universal Hollywood
Get ready to race! Universal Studios Hollywood has initiated its first extended launch tests for “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.” As the park’s first-ever, high-speed outdoor roller coaster, the new attraction is now putting its ride vehicles through the paces, preparing for its thrilling 2026 debut.
The new attraction, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” is designed to completely immerse guests in the high-octane action of the films. This innovative roller coaster boasts groundbreaking technology engineered to create a seamless sensation of drifting cars. Riders will spin in motion while speeding along an aerial track that dramatically winds its way over sections of the theme park, including the multi-level escalator that connects the Upper and Lower Lots.
The coaster features approximately 4,100 feet of elaborate track—the equivalent of nearly 12 football fields—and is constructed with state-of-the-art sound reduction technology. Guests will queue up inside an expansive garage-like structure on the Upper Lot before boarding one of the four ride vehicles, which are modeled after the franchise’s iconic cars, including Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger. Each individual ride vehicle is capable of a 360-degree rotation as it races along the course.
Currently, during this initial test phase, the train carrying the four ride vehicles (including the Dodge Charger) is concealed; the remaining ride vehicles will be revealed at a later date.
“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” is set to join Universal Studios Hollywood’s impressive lineup of groundbreaking attractions, which already includes SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, Jurassic World—The Ride, and the signature Studio Tour attraction.
