Universal Orlando Lays Off More Workers Due To COVID

Universal Orlando has laid off more workers as it deals with the impacts of the ongoing COVID-19. This unfortunately wasn’t the first round of layoffs since the theme parks reopened in June. “We continue to manage our business through challenging times and we again have made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce as we position our business for the future,” Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder said in a statement sent to Spectrum News. Universal didn’t release the number of Team Members laid off but they did say it was not hourly workers.

This news follows lasts week’s news of Volcano Bay closing until March. The water park will shut down temporarily on November 2nd.

“We continue to be aware of the impact this will have on those affected by this action and we are working to support them through this process,” Schroder said in the statement. Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this time. Thank you to the Team Members for all they do.
