Universal Horror Unleashed Expands to Chicago—Bringing Year-Round Screams to the Midwest
Chicago, your nightmares are about to get a whole lot more real. Before the blood even dries at the brand-new Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas, Universal has dropped another scream-worthy announcement: a second location is officially coming to the Windy City!
Set inside the former Tribune Distribution Center on Chicago Avenue, nestled between River North and West Town, the new Universal Horror Unleashed will deliver year-round chills in an indoor, warehouse-style venue that already looks like a haunted house come to life.

This marks Universal’s first branded experience in the Midwest, and execs say it’s a perfect fit. According to Page Thompson, President of New Ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences, “We’re excited to bring this bold concept to life in Chicago, a city known for its vibrant culture… that showcases our storytelling expertise and ability to deliver mind-blowing experiences that shatter guest expectations.”
While details about the specific haunted houses and themed areas in the Chicago location remain under wraps, if the Las Vegas version is any indication—featuring terrifying walkthroughs like Universal Monsters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scarecrow: The Reaping, and Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer, you can expect your worst fears to feel deliciously real.
The Las Vegas venue opens August 14, 2025, and includes not just haunted houses but immersive zones with themed dining, entertainment, and of course, horror-fueled merch. Tickets for Vegas are already available at UniversalHorrorUnleashed.com, and you can bet Chicago won’t be far behind.

With this announcement, Universal continues to spread its spooky empire coast to coast (and beyond), adding to a growing portfolio that includes Epic Universe in Orlando, the upcoming Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, and their first European resort in the U.K., coming in 2031.
Chi-Town, prepare to scream.
