Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show Closing January 2026, Reimagined Version Coming Later That Year

One of the most delightfully twisted classics at Universal Orlando Resort is getting ready to take its final bow, at least in its current form. According to information shared with Universal team members, the Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida will hold its final performance on January 4, 2026. The good news for fans is that this is not a permanent farewell, as Universal has confirmed a reimagined version of the show is set to debut later in 2026.

The Horror Make-Up Show has long been a fan favorite thanks to its mix of audience participation, behind-the-scenes effects demonstrations, and tongue-in-cheek humor. Performed inside the Pantages Theater in the Hollywood area, the show walks guests through classic Universal special effects while never taking itself too seriously. Universal says the updated version will continue that comedic and irreverent spirit while incorporating both classic and modern horror properties, along with some new surprises.

Universal Announces Temporary Closure and Reimagining of Horror Make-Up Show

While Universal has not officially confirmed which franchises will be featured, the wording has sparked speculation that newer properties seen around the parks and at Halloween Horror Nights could play a role in the refreshed show. Fans have already begun guessing about potential nods to Blumhouse films or other modern horror icons joining the lineup alongside longtime Universal monsters.

For now, guests still have a short window to catch the current version before it closes in early January. If the past is any indication, Universal is aiming to keep the heart of the show intact while giving it a fresh coat of fake blood for a new era.
