Two attractions in Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort will be undergoing extended refurbishments. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will both be closed this Fall.
On Tom Sawyer Island guests can wander dusty dirt roads lined with tall trees, explore whirling mills, and amble across creaky suspension bridges. Along the way, you can follow in the pioneering footsteps of early settlers, during an era when Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer reflected a new nation coming into its own.
The Liberty Square Riverboat, the Liberty Belle, is 47 feet tall and is a working reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried people up and down the mighty Mississippi. There are 4 decks with limited seating available. Along the way, guests listen to a recorded narrator—in the voice of iconic American author and humorist Mark Twain—sharing memories of Twain’s time on the Mississippi.
Both attractions will be closed from October 5, 2020, to January 2, 2021. These dates can always change, so we will update if changes do occur. If you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort soon, keep an eye on the other refurbishments.
