Two Magic Kingdom attractions are closed for a lengthy refurbishment. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat were originally on the schedule to reopen in January. That date has now been pushed back.
Now the refurbishment calendar on the Disney World website (and the My Disney Experience app) shows the attractions being closed through February 28.
The Liberty Square Riverboat offers guests a cruise on the scenic Rivers of America aboard an authentic steam-powered paddle wheeler. Along the way, listen to a recorded narrator—in the voice of iconic American author and humorist Mark Twain—sharing memories of Twain’s time on the Mississippi. Guests will behold a bevy of sights from the early days of the American frontier.
On Tom Sawyer Island, you can wander dusty dirt roads lined with tall trees, explore whirling mills and amble across creaky suspension bridges. Navigate narrow passages amid secret mined caves and uncover a frontier fort.
Along the way, follow in the pioneering footsteps of early settlers, during an era when Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer reflected a new nation coming into its own.
Refurbishment schedules are always changing so these two attractions may not open on March 1st as we think. We will keep an eye out and continue to update if anything changes.
