TRON Lightcycle / Run Tips and Tricks

TRON Lightcycle / Run is ready to race! Even though the ride is not yet open to the public there have been ongoing cast previews allowing cast members to bring up to three guests each. There have been numerous reports of larger guests not being able to fit securely on the Lightcycle and being redirected to the bench seats in the rear of the ride causing some guests to stress over the fear of being embarrassed. We have some tips for you and want to let you know there are options!

Have everyone Try Out a Test Seat the First Time

5-3

The first thing I recommend is that all members of your party test out the Tron Lightcycle / Run seats regardless of size. There are several reasons for this. With smaller children, you might want to make sure they understand how they need to sit on the attraction for their first go-around. We saw several younger kids riding and having a blast. There is a height restriction and cast members will check younger kids before they can ride. Another reason is it can take some adjusting to figure out how to best position yourself for comfort and to secure the locking position needed to ride.

What You Should Know

4-4

The ride’s seats resemble a high-tech motorbike and have a forward incline to them. Its not so much weight factors which would restrict riders from riding in the Lightcycle as much as it is calf size and to some degree leg length. The other factor is whether or not riders have discomfort with the leg or back positioning. If you have issues bending your leg at the knee or have back or spinal issues let cast members know and they can accommodate you with the bench seating.

The Lightcycles are overall very comfy. The ride is around a minute in length so barring any preexisting issues most riders can ride very comfortably. The ride is very smooth and not jarring at all.

How to Sit on the Test Seat

When you get onto the test cycle you will have to swing your leg over just like with a motorcycle. You then lean forward and reach toward the handlebars and your knees will automatically go into a forward bend position.

3-7

As your knees bend forward and you pull the handlebars down a metal bar lock will come up behind your leg to help lock you in place.

Here is what you need to know. There are no indicator lights on the test seat letting you know if the lock will engage when you enter the actual ride seat. However, cast members have added black tape to the handlebars so you can see if you are pulling them down far enough to engage the leg locks. You need to be able to pull them forward enough to at least reach the marked-off tape area.

8-5

If you have large calves you may have trouble pulling the handlebars down enough to engage the lock. If you have discomfort or issues with your back, knees, or legs you may also have problems doing this. Don’t try to force the handlebars in place. Cast members nearby can give you tips that may help.

Factors to Consider

Waist size does not seem to be a factor for riding this attraction. The back of the Lightcycle does come down onto your back but is only there for comfort and not to hold you in place. It is spring-loaded and will not push down on you.

Tips

Some riders have been denied the first time around but after practicing on the test seat have learned tricks to make it work by positioning their legs in different ways. One such way is to make sure your feet are pushed all the way back. Pushing further down on your knees can also help.

Don’t Be Afraid to Try

Cast members have stated that the test seats are not exactly the same as what you will be boarding inside. Don’t be shy about asking a cast member for help in trying to ride the Lightcycle even if you don’t fit in the test seat. They can help you by showing you how to better position yourself. It can take a bit of practice for taller or larger-calved guests.

If you cannot ride the Tron Lightcycle safely you can still experience the ride from the bench seat. Cast members will have you step aside and wait for the next available bench seat to become available.

The Bench Seat is Great!

Don’t be embarrassed about riding in the bench seat! Guests of all sizes request to ride in the bench seat for various reasons. Some guests don’t like the feeling of the TRON Lightcycles locking on the leg. Guests of all sizes and ages can request the bench seat if they need it.

Be aware though that there are four Lightcycle Trains and only two have bench seats so you may have to wait for a few turns to board. The wait is not that bad and worth the extra comfort.

The bench seats have lots of legroom and pouches on the back of the seats that you can place your phones and sunglasses in if need be.

My TRON Experience

We really enjoyed our ride on Tron Lightcycle Run today. Being claustrophobic I don’t like the feeling of anything locking on my legs and I requested the bench seat. It was so comfortable and I really enjoyed the ride from this perspective.
