TriceraTop Spin Completely Demolished as Part of Dinoland Retheming in Animal Kingdom

Another one bites the prehistoric dust! TriceraTop Spin is officially gone from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, leaving behind nothing but memories (and maybe a few dino-sized footprints). The Dumbo-style spinner ride, which delighted little paleontologists for over two decades, has been completely demolished as part of the ongoing transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. into Tropical Americas.

It didn’t take long for crews to make dino history. TriceraTop Spin closed permanently on January 12, 2025, along with the rest of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama. Demolition started almost immediately, and now, just a few months later, the ride is no longer visible above the construction walls. Even its queue and the nearby carnival games—where you could once win plush versions of the ride’s teal Triceratops vehicles—have been wiped off the map.

But don’t mourn for too long! In place of the now-extinct DinoLand, a brand-new land is emerging, inspired by the rich cultures and landscapes of Tropical Americas. Welcome to Pueblo Esperanza!

A New Land Comes to Life

As Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed at D23’s Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, construction on this new 11-acre land begins later this year. Much like Harambe in Africa, Pueblo Esperanza will be a vibrant, lived-in space filled with history, storytelling, and plenty of immersive details. A large hacienda will serve as one of the biggest quick-service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World, and at the heart of the land will be a grand fountain where villagers gather to share stories.

One of the most exciting additions is a giant working carousel, handcrafted by a local woodcarver who has brought some of Disney’s most beloved animal characters to life. It’s a fresh take on a classic attraction that’s sure to become a must-ride for families.

Two New Attractions: Indiana Jones & Encanto

But wait, there’s more! Tropical Americas will be home to not one, but TWO brand-new rides!

🔍 Indiana Jones – Our favorite fedora-wearing archaeologist is making his way to Animal Kingdom! This all-new Indy experience—completely different from any other Indiana Jones ride in the world—will take guests deep into a perfectly preserved Maya temple, where rumors of a mythical creature have surfaced. Indy, being Indy, can’t resist the mystery and brings us along for the ride. Will we run into booby traps, ancient relics, or (gulp) snakes? Only time will tell.

🦜 Encanto – If you love drawers, floors, and doors, get ready for the first-ever Encanto-themed ride-through attraction! Inside the magical Casita, Antonio has just received his gift to communicate with animals, and his room has transformed into a lush rainforest. Guests will embark on a whimsical journey alongside Antonio, exploring his world and meeting members of the Madrigal family along the way.

While construction officially begins this fall, the wait isn’t quite over. Tropical Americas is set to open in 2027, bringing a whole new energy to this corner of Animal Kingdom. But don’t worry—there’s still plenty of time to experience Dinosaur (and get that dino!) before the land’s transformation is complete.

With TriceraTop Spin now extinct, the future of Animal Kingdom is looking brighter than ever. Are you excited for Pueblo Esperanza, Indiana Jones, and Encanto? Let us know in the comments!
