Trees on the lawn of Haunted Mansion removed. If you’ve passed by the Haunted Mansion attraction at the Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom recently you may have noticed something different. No. Not the attraction itself but its landscaping. That’s right. The beloved Haunted Mansion now has fewer trees towering over its courtyard. The huge southern live oaks were just recently removed. Let’s take a look of how it looked before the removal.
The last picture is how the Haunted Mansion once looked with the trees looming over the courtyard. You can see that the trees covered up the mansion’s gorgeous 19th-century Dutch Gothic architecture. Upon post tree removal the facade is now in full view.
How will Haunted Mansion fans react? Did the trees really make a difference to this classic attraction? Somehow I don’t think the guests will miss them. Many guests may not have even noticed. However, you may feel it does look a tad bare.
I always thought that the trees had a certain eerie character that added to the Haunted Mansion’s charm. Will you miss those sweeping branches that gently swayed in the breeze? As you walked up to the attraction the trees were actually was the first thing I always noticed. Maybe Walt Disney World is planning something else to go in their place? We do know that Walt Disney World has no shortage of trees and last year’s hurricane only uprooted trees in the graveyard so this must be an aesthetic change.
What are your thoughts about this new look? Love it? Hate it? Don’t care either way?
Believe me, this will not change the way I feel about the Haunted Mansion attraction one bit. I will still be singing “Grim Grinning Ghosts” at the top of my lungs and walking to the dead center of the room before I step into my Doom Buggy and catch a hitchhiking ghost before I leave.
