The National Weather Service has placed Walt Disney World under a Tornado Watch until 8 pm today as Tropical Storm Debby approaches, raising concerns about heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

While a watch indicates the possibility of hazardous weather, it is crucial for visitors and residents to stay vigilant and prepared. The primary threat to the Walt Disney World area and East Central Florida is heavy rainfall, with predictions of 2-4 inches and localized amounts potentially reaching 4-6 inches. This could lead to flooding, especially in low-lying areas and those with poor drainage.
Tropical Storm Debby is anticipated to intensify as it tracks north into the Gulf of Mexico, bringing the risk of localized flooding, tropical storm force gusts, and even a few tornadoes in outer rainbands. These conditions are expected to primarily affect the area from today into Monday.
Walt Disney World guests are strongly advised to keep a close eye on weather updates as the storm’s path could lead to further impacts. As of now, Disney has not announced any operational changes to its theme parks or resorts. However, visitors should remain aware of potential disruptions and be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
