Tornado Watch Extended as Hurricane Debby Impacts Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort
The tornado watch issued on August 4th for Central Florida, encompassing Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, has been extended until 4 p.m. on August 5th. This comes as Hurricane Debby, recently upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane after making landfall in the Big Bend of Florida, continues to impact the region.

Orange County, home to both theme park resorts, is among the nine Central Florida counties under the tornado watch. While all parks remain open as of now, the situation is subject to change if weather conditions worsen. Visitors should anticipate ride closures throughout the day due to heavy rain and sustained wind gusts potentially reaching 36 miles per hour.
Adding to the concerns, a severe weather advisory and wind advisory have been issued for Orange County, warning of potential wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour.
A tornado warning that was previously in effect for the area surrounding Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort has since expired, but the continued tornado watch highlights the ongoing threat of severe weather.
Guests and residents are urged to stay vigilant, monitor weather updates closely, and follow any instructions provided by park officials or local authorities. It is essential to prioritize safety and be prepared for potential disruptions and changes in park operations as Hurricane Debby continues to impact the region.
