Let’s face it, Disney is a crowded place, and according to Chip it is becoming even more crowded. With so many people passing through the gates of the four parks and two water parks, there are bound to be some who annoy others. In order to keep from being “that person”, I want to share with you my Top Ten Pet Peeves that can make your vacation less than magical.
10. Parade Jumpers – Walking in front of someone, who clearly has the front spot behind the parade ropes, to park yourself for the parade. Chances are, that person has been waiting there for at least an hour. Also if you are an adult and there is a kid sitting there use some common sense you make a better door than you do a window.
9. Traffic Stoppers – Stopping in the middle of a main walkway, without pulling over to the side to pull out your map or take a picture. When the park first opens there is that mad rush to get inside and to the rides. While I know everyone is excited be respectful and pull over out of the flow of traffic to handle your business.
8. Personal Space Violators – Walking too closely behind someone, or standing too close behind them in line is annoying. If I wanted you all over me I would have married you..
7. Line Holders – Sending other members of your party to wait in line for an attraction, and then line jumping to catch up with them. Nothing worse than knowing you are three people away from being next, then the rest of their family (like 6 more people) cut in front of you. Parents with Children are fine I am talking more large parties of people. Brazilian tour groups are notorious for this.
6. Loud Talkers – Screaming at or yelling at your children instead of pulling them aside and talking to them. Or people on Cell Phones talking at full volume. We don’t want to hear about Aunt Bootsies infected toe.
5. Ninja Photographers – Flash photography on dark rides. This totally ruins the moment for everyone. Not to mention your picture is going to look horrible. There are some things you weren’t meant to see on the dark rides.
4. High Towers – Putting your kids on your shoulder to watch something, ruining the view for the tons of people behind you.
3. Night Lighters – Holding your iPad, iPhone or Cell Phone above your head to take video of fireworks or parades. This ruins it for others around you, especially if it’s dark and the light from the device is intrusive. This isn’t a concert people.
2. Bag Slackers – Not having your bag ready to be checked when you arrive at the gates. You can see the long line of people opening up their bags and getting ready. Disney checks every pocket and every bag so unzip everything before you get up there, so be prepared.
1. No Manner-itis – People who are just rude and forget to say please and thank you. A little kindness and manners will go a long way with not only cast members but from other people too. Just because your on vacation it doesn’t mean you don’t have to be polite and respectful to others.
It comes down to this. Brush up on your manners before entering a crowded place like Walt Disney World. Remember that others are there for their vacation as well. If you want the whole park to yourself, perhaps you could rent it out privately Everyone around you has paid for their vacation, too. You don’t want someone ruining it for you, and you don’t want to be THAT person who commits one of the Top Ten Pet Peeves at Walt Disney World.
Magically Yours,
Carrie
