Tokyo Disneyland Hosting Special Event Celebrating the Closure of Space Mountain

Tokyo Disneyland is hosting a special event for guests to celebrate the current version of Space Mountain at the park. The attraction will be closing later this year to undergo an extensive, multi-year refurbishment. “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!” will give the ride a proper send-off.

The upcoming event is poised to showcase exclusive culinary delights, unique merchandise, and captivating entertainment across Tomorrowland, commemorating over four decades of intergalactic launches from Space Mountain’s loading bay.

Imaginative decorations will transform the area with an abundance of stars, rockets, extraterrestrials, and space-themed elements. Anticipate thrilling launch countdowns, encounters with Star Wars characters roaming around, a lively dance party in front of the mountain, and numerous immersive photo opportunities. Moreover, the coaster itself promises delightful surprises for attendees during “The Final Ignition.” Speculation abounds regarding special effects such as enhanced fog and lighting exclusively activated for the occasion.

In 2027, the current Space Mountain and surrounding environment will be renovated, and a new Space Mountain is scheduled to open. While maintaining the current form of an indoor roller coaster-type attraction, new performances and special effects have been added, allowing you to enjoy space travel even more thrilling and exciting than ever before.
