Tim Allen Wants To Bring Back 'Home Improvement' For A Revival Special

Tim Allen Wants To Bring Back ‘Home Improvement’ For A Revival Special. The famed Toy Story and Last Man Standing actor wants to return to the role of Tim Taylor of Home Improvement for a special revival so both the fans and the cast can reconnect with the mega-popular 90’s sitcom family.

“I like the idea of doing it as a one-off, like a one-hour movie [versus a full-fledged revival series]. I like the idea of finding out where the boys are now, and where… Tool Time would be in today’s world. I just think it’s a marvelous idea, and all the actors think it’s a great idea.” Tim continued, “The question I had was, ‘Is it still relevant? Is Tim Taylor relevant in the Mike Baxter [Last Man Standing] world?’ Because Mike Baxter is like a real version of Tim Taylor; he’s not such a joke. And the [Outdoor Man] vlogs are like Mike’s version of Tool Time done as a web series.”

We think there are plenty of ways Tim Taylor could remain relevant, despite the passing of time. Just my input, cough, cough Disney and ABC, I would be happy to write up a script for you! cough, cough, a great plot point would be Tim realizing a generation of “electronically raised” kids are now seeking the skills initially taught on Tool Time. I’m sure Tim would also be fascinated by advancing technology such as 3D printers, virtual construction, and more. Could you imagine Tim puttering around a virtual reality simulator? I’m laughing just thinking of the chaos that would ensue. Hehehe.

We would also love to see how The Taylor’s are doing, what the boys have been up to now that they are adults, how Jill and Tim are handling being “empty nesters”, potentially also being grandparents, and of course how other characters are doing in the modern age. It would be very interesting to see the cast reunite for a Home Improvement special and give insight into The Taylor family’s lives in “2020.”

Even if the special is not given a release on ABC we would love to see a Home Improvement special on Disney+ (Just another idea that is up for grabs, Disney).

What do you think of a Home Improvement revival? Do you like the idea of leaving it up to the fans imagination? Or would you want to see what The Taylor’s are up to 21 years later? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney and ABC!
