Buzz Lightyear is back! Tim Allen, the voice behind the iconic space ranger, has confirmed that he has begun recording his lines for the highly anticipated “Toy Story 5.” In a recent interview with Collider, Allen shared his excitement about returning to the role and praised the film’s “very, very clever story.”

Allen revealed that he recently completed his first five-hour recording session for Buzz, marking the start of his involvement in the Pixar sequel. While he remained tight-lipped about specific plot details, he expressed his confidence in the filmmakers’ vision, stating, “I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks].”

“Toy Story 5” was first announced in February 2023, with Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter promising a “surprising” sequel that will captivate audiences. The film, scheduled for a June 2026 premiere, will see the return of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the beloved gang.

Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, known for his acclaimed work on “Finding Nemo” and “WALL-E,” will be directing the film. While a detailed synopsis has yet to be released, Stanton has hinted that the narrative will explore the impact of technology on the characters, including the rise of tablets, smartphones, and even an army of rogue commemorative Buzz Lightyear action figures.
