New Lead Writer / Director Selected for Tiana Animated Disney+ Series
In an exciting development, Disney+ has chosen Joyce Sherri as the lead writer and director for their upcoming animated series, “Tiana,” as exclusively reported by Variety. Variety learned that Joyce Sherri has been tapped as the lead writer and director for Disney+’s upcoming animated series “Tiana.” This musical project was initially revealed during a Disney investor day in 2020 and is described as a sequel to the 2009 animated movie “The Princess and the Frog,” which introduced the character Tiana, once again voiced by Anika Noni Rose.
Originally slated for a 2023 release, the series is now scheduled to premiere in 2024. Joyce Sherri, whose most recent TV writing credit includes the Netflix horror miniseries “Midnight Mass” by Mike Flanagan, boasts a portfolio of short films such as “Beauty,” “Forever,” “Down, Down, Baby,” and “The Family Romance.”
