You’ve heard the term “little things”, it’s the little things that make all my Disney trips amazing. From my first, the one with former co-workers/cast members, getting that extra discount at the stores, or this last one, when we celebrated our second anniversary and chatting with the cashier where we got our first set of mouse ears as a couple and receiving the monogramming for free. It’s these little things that make an impression on you.
In my trips to Walt Disney World I’ve learned the following and I think everyone should put them to use on vacation:
- Its vacation, it’s not life or death. I’m all about planning Disney. But sometimes I have step back, realize that things happen and I’m there to just have fun. Planning out every second is great but a blister or a rain storm can change it and don’t let it ruin your time.
- Don’t forget to keep up your energy. If it’s required you go fast and hit the parks hard, sleep in, take an afternoon break for a nap and eat. Don’t let your blood sugar drop below normal. If this means a snack or an earlier eating time, do it. Don’t let a bad mood because you are cranky ruin a wonderful vacation.
- Talk to the cast members. See my previous statement about the free monogramming. We’ve gotten extra fast passes as well. Sometimes it’s a free dessert or just a bit of extra pixie dust in your life. It’s those things that help with a trip. If you want tips or just want to try something new, don’t be afraid to ask.
- Don’t be afraid to be a kid. Disney is a playground, it’s there to make you happy and let you be a kid, or if you are a kid well than be one to the nth degree. Smile, ride every ride, race to get somewhere before your friends. Ride Space Mountain as many times in a row as you can.
- Try something new. If it’s a new ride, a new place to eat or well, a new activity or adventure, try it. DO IT! You never know if you’ll like the view from the top of Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse or the food in Morocco or the wine in Germany.
These are just a few of the little things I’ve learned throughout my time as a Disney vacationer, there are so many more. But this should get your started.
