‘The Witches‘ Remake Starring Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer to Premiere on HBO Max. A new adaption of The Witches, a popular children’s book by Roald Dahl, was set to premiere in theaters this fall, but as a last minute surprise, Warner Bros. announced The Witches will bypass theaters and is now set to a premiere on the new streaming service, HBO Max, on October 22nd.

The book was originally adapted into a film in 1990 and starred Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch/Miss Ernst. Reportedly, Roald Dahl himself was not a fan of the original film as it differed from the original book ending. Reportedly, the new film is said to be a more faithful adaption from the popular children’s book. The Witches (2020) stars Anne Hathaway (Grand High Witch), Octavia Spencer (Grandmother), Jahzir Bruno, Stanley Tucci (Mr Stringer), and Chris Rock.
