The spa at the Grand Floridian will close on September 19th for 18-20 months during the construction of the new Disney Vacation Club property at that resort. Guests interested in having a spa experiences on site will be bused to other spas. No word on whether or not the Nikki Bryan Salon, which is under contract with Disney to run the spa, will be returning when it re-opens.
We still haven’t heard any official announcement from Disney on the new DVC property. Don’t hold your breath on that one. When Bay Lake Tower was being built, Disney didn’t announce the property until construction was well underway. Meanwhile, the wedding pavilion has been given new stained glass windows on the side to hide the construction of the building “that cannot be named” and the horse-drawn carriage that takes brides to and from the pavilion will be re-routed to a more scenic route. I’ll be down there next week and I’ll try to get some pictures of the construction for the site. Meanwhile, if you take any or if you just visit the site, please keep us posted on what you see!
