We are still months away from seeing the premiere of ”The Santa Clauses” on Disney+, however, Disney fans are noting the absence of two characters from the franchise.
Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell will reprise their roles as Santa Claus (Scott Calvin) and Mrs. Claus (Carol) with new cast joining the Disney+ Original Series. Austin Kane and Elizabeth Allen Dick join the cast playing the roles of Cal and Grace, the two children of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
As fans took to Twitter to air their annoyance at the two missing stars, with many responding directly to Disney’s announcement of the series with comments like “Where’s Bernard?” and “I need Charlie and Bernard, even in cameos. It’s not the Santa Clause franchise without them.”, it is clear that some have forgotten that Krumholtz had already dipped out of the franchise’s third installment, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.
In January, Krumholtz hinted he would not be returning to the North Pole when reacting to the “shocking” news of The Santa Clause Disney+ series. The Numb3rs actor previously declined to return for The Santa Clause 3, which “devalued” the character who helped Scott Calvin (Allen) take up the mantle of Santa in the original film.
“The Santa Clauses” is set some time after the events of “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause” and picks up with Scott Calvin on the brink of his 65th birthday. Realizing he can’t be Santa forever as he suddenly starts to lose his Santa magic, he sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the North Pole.
We can’t wait to watch ”The Santa Clauses” on Disney+ this holiday season!
