The Polite Pig – A Delicious Way to Fill Your Belly At Disney Springs -The smell of smokey bar-b-que fills the air when you near the restaurant. Step inside and your mouth begins to water. The Polite Pig is a go-to destination for a meal with friends and family. Welcoming staff and a casual atmosphere create a relaxed dining experience. The restaurant is located near the Lime Parking Garage and has both inside and outside seating options.
A great selection of beverages with bright fresh flavors, a tasty start as you peruse the menu. From left to right, Volka Lemonade (house-made lemonade and vodka), Sweet-Tea Old Fashioned (bourbon,sweet-tea syrup, and bitters), Polite Sangria (Spanish red wine and Florida Orange liqueur), and a Seasonal Slushi – Passion Fruit! The Polite Pig “kegs” their specialty drink mixes to have them at the ready. This unique method ensures consistency with each order. A scrumptious black cherry topped our drinks. A twist on the traditional maraschino accent.
While wetting our whistle we enjoyed a just-freshly-made still-warm Hop Salt Pretzel. Two dipping sauces accompanied the chewy treat, beer-Cheese fondu, and a tangy IPA mustard. We devoured the pretzel and dipping sauce in no time!
The Butcher Board was suggested as our entree. A selection of tender, perfectly seasoned and portioned meats to share. Designed for at least two, the plate includes pork shoulder, smoked chicken, brisket, BBQ cheddar sausage, coleslaw, and jalapeno cornbread. We added ribs for an additional fee. Our server presented house-made dipping sauces, Southern Gold, mustard- vinegar based, Lil John Signature Porter Sauce, honey and black pepper accent the malty flavors of the beer reduction base. Next, Layla’s Sweet Sauce molasses, honey, and brown sugar complemented by the addition of cumin. BBQ Ranch is spot on with celery seed and smokey goodness. We found our meat to be perfectly seasoned and the sauce was not needed.
Two sides we paired with our entree, BBQ Cauliflower, seasoned with paprika sour cream and candied pepitas. Our second side, crispy whiskey-caramel Brussels sprouts. Additionally, we ordered the creamy mac and cheese topped with crispy breadcrumbs, smoked root vegetables drizzled with orange-thyme vinaigrette topped with puffed grains of rice and a beautiful fall dish of roasted beets dressed with smoked pecan granola, goat cheese, and baby oranges.
Here are some images of the restaurant – ordering is easy at the walk-up counter. Menu items are clearly on display on large monitors. Set up as quick-serve, where an order is placed at the counter and an electronic order tracking device is taken to your table. Servers deliver your meal when ready and are on hand to provide assistance when needed. The restaurant does accept some Disney Dining Plans. Open for lunch and dinner.
The Sauce Bar, located centrally, should you need access to more of the delightful concoctions to dress your meal.
The Polite Pig is more than just great bar-b-que. An impressive selection of bourbon, rye, and reserve. Choose a flight to sample several before making a final choice. A great option when you can’t decide. Florida craft beer is available for the hop lovers and of course specialty cocktails – we certainly enjoyed ours.
To end a perfect meal – dessert of course! We were able to make room for the sweet treats and they were amazing. Carrot Cake with perfect cream cheese icing, a southern favorite, Buttermilk Chess Pie and Orange Blossom Honey Cake.
Our bellies full and our mouths happy, the enjoyable evening did not end there. We took a Gideon’s Bakehouse treat for later. The biggest chocolate chip cookies I had ever seen! At nearly a half pound each, these chocolate-lovers dream cookies melt in your mouth. A hint of salt on the bottom of the cookie balances the sweetness. A perfect end to a memorable meal. The Gideon’s Bakehouse is the master of these colossal goodies and they are masters at cookie creation. The Gideon’s Bakehouse is located at East End Market. The cookies are proudly featured at The Polite Pig and it is the only location, other than the BakeHouse, to get them!
