The Magic Behind The 'Company' - Getting To Know Ken

About Me:

Name: Ken

Where do you live: Tucson, Arizona

How long have you been with Chip and Company:
Since July of 2010

What topics do you write about:
I focus on Disney from a Seniors point of view but any topic that can help vacationers make their stay at Walt Disney World simpler and more Magical.

Favorite C&C Writer:
We have a very talented group and I like them all because of their varied specialties.

Do you have a Blog or Website:
No

Have a Facebook Page or Twitter:
Facebook here and of course Twitter here.

Favorite Disney Website other than Chip and Company:
Tie between AllEars.net and Passporter.com

What % of your clothes and house is decorated with Disney Gear:
Tees and sweatshirts 95%+, home office 100%, a very large china cabinet in the dining room with 30+ snow globes.

Chip or Dale:
I’m old but I’m not stupid – CHIP

About the Parks:

What’s your Favorite Disney Park: EPCOT

How many Times have you been to the Disney Parks:
Started in 1990 and normally every 2 years since but we are switching to every 18 months after October 2011.

What’s your First Disney Memory:
Walking down Main Street USA and thinking “I have finally found MY place!!

What is your favorite Ride, Show, and Event:
Ride – Haunted Mansion, Show – Festival of the Lion King and Fantasmic,  Event – Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Where is your favorite place to get your grub on:
We enjoy all of the Signature Restaurants but our absolute favorite is Victoria & Albert’s. In the parks, 50’s Prime Time Cafe.

What’s your favorite snack:
Don’t have one – I never snack (personality defect?)

You have the whole park to yourself tell us what park it would be and plan of attack?
EPCOT and we would absolutely take our time and try to find the things we may have missed in the past.

Least Favorite Disney Ride or Attractions:
Mission Space Orange – it gives me serious tummy issues Green version is fine.

What’s missing from the Parks:
Now that they are gone I can whine but Mickey’s house and Minnie’s house were always an important part of our visits.

Which thing do you wish Disney would bring back:
20,000 Leagues, not a spectacular attraction but it was the first attraction I ever rode.

What do you bring to the park with you:
We tour very lightly – Bonine and Ginger capsules for my motion sickness, camera with LOTS of memory and LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of spare batteries. Cash and Cards are vital since we don’t carry anything extra. This will be my first visit using a “Smart” phone.

Do you fly, drive or take a Magic Carpet to the Disney Parks:
Fly, the baggage charges on Magic Carpets are outrageous

What’s your most and least favorite Disney character and why:
Mickey has always been the favorite but I have a thing for the Queen of Hearts (don’t tell my wife). I like them all but then again  I’m easy to please.

Dining Plan, OOP, or Bring Food with you:
Definitely Out Of  Pocket and generally using Tables In Wonderland

To ADR or Not to ADR:
I would not visit without making ADR’s

Events at the park that cost extra good idea or should be included with park admission:
Extra Cost is fine with me primarily because it limits attendance to a manageable level

When is your next trip to WDW or DL:
Walt Disney World – October 13-23, 2011

Everything Else Disney:

What is your favorite Disney Movie:
Pirates 1, 2, &3 and most likely 4 in May and 5 whenever!!!

Do you do any Disney Collections:
Disney DVD’s (Blu Rays) 150+, Snow Globes 30+, and lots of photos, several thousand. Almost forgot, I have over 50 Disney Tee and Sweat shirts.

Have you been on a Disney Cruise or Adventures by Disney:
No I haven’t

Ever been to DLR:
Several times

Finally what does Disney Mean to you: I just finished reading Walt’s biography and I realized something I think always knewthe vision and love produced by everyone who works/has worked there has made Disney an icon that produces a feeling of Magic and happiness in everyone exposed to it. I love going to Walt Disney World and acting like a kid again even though I’m 65 years old, and nobody cares about me being an old fool!!
