The Best Thing I Love About Disney…The 50’s Prime Time Cafe
Why do I love The 50’s Prime Time Cafe at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? The food is good solid comfort food just like Mom used to make (if she was feeding a few thousand people a day). There is a lot of fun to be had if you are willing to play along with your “relatives” who are not shy about making sure you eat everything on your plate. As a matter of fact, green beans are notoriously left on plates and Mom or Cousin Bob has been known to feed them to you if you do leave them. Above all, please don’t put your elbows on the table or you will receive a stern reprimand from your Sister/Brother or whoever. Please don’t let this scare you off. If you do not want to play along, the Cast Members are very good at sensing this and will leave you alone to enjoy your meal.
But – these reasons are not what made me initially put The 50’s Prime Time on my must do every trip list, they became part of the overall experience after we were seated the first time and I looked around and felt – Hey, this is the kitchen I grew up in during the early 50’s (appropriate huh!!). It was our kitchen down to the vinyl chairs, linoleum covered tables and black and white TV showing reruns of I Love Lucy, My Little Margie, etc. It’s a little like the Sci-Fi Dine-In in Mom’s kitchen with better food. A lot of people love The 50’s Prime Time Cafe but those of us Oldies who were born in the 40’s and grew up during the 50’s particularly enjoy it. Give it a try, I think you’ll enjoy it!! Have a great visit to Walt Disney World!!
