Walls Down, Hype Up: EPCOT’s New Test Track Enters Final Countdown Toward Reopening
Start your engines—because the reimagined version of Test Track at EPCOT just hit a major milestone! As of June 9, 2025, the towering construction walls that have long surrounded the attraction are officially gone, replaced by sleek rolling planters. With the attraction’s full exterior now on display and ride vehicles zipping along the outdoor track in what appear to be full test cycles, the finish line for this long-awaited refurbishment is clearly in sight.

While Disney has yet to announce an official reopening date, Cast Members continue to cite the “late summer 2025” window originally shared by Disney Parks. Given the pace of testing and how complete the exterior now looks, an early July debut—perhaps just in time for Independence Day crowds—feels more possible than ever. Disney did remove the ‘Summer 2025’ timeline from the website, which may hint at a Fall debut for the attraction. Cast Member previews or Annual Passholder soft openings are likely next on the roadmap, though none have been formally announced.
There are a few exciting updates for fans to note:
- The new name of the gift shop is now Test Track Gear Shop—a sleek refresh for the post-ride retail experience.
- Chevrolet branding has been removed from the signage, suggesting the ride is now unsponsored, though it remains a tribute to innovation in mobility.
- A return to optimism: Disney Imagineering promises this next evolution of Test Track will draw inspiration from the beloved World of Motion, blending futuristic tech with nostalgic storytelling.

Once reopened, guests will embark on a ride that blends old-school optimism with modern marvels. The new Test Track 3.0 will feature a redesigned queue with six immersive exhibits showcasing the pioneers of motion and the tech that powers tomorrow. From onboard customizations to scenic drives that capture the joy of the open road, the new ride aims to thrill while also celebrating the human spirit of discovery.
