Taylor Swift Set to Direct New Movie for Disney
Taylor Swift will make her feature film directorial debut with an original story written and directed by her through Searchlight Productions (owned by The Walt Disney Company). Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield shared his excitement for the project, telling Deadline, “Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
The Grammy award-winning artist has made headlines in recent months for her numerous awards and history-breaking records, as well as the overwhelming response to ticket sales for her upcoming Eras tour that broke ticket sale records and put Ticketmaster in hot water for the mishandling of sales and distribution.
Taylor recently released All Too Well: The Short Film (14 min, filmed on 35mm) at both the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. Swift directed and wrote the short film which has gained interest and consideration for upcoming awards such as the 95th Academy Awards.
Details on the film and story are being kept tightly under wraps at Searchlight. Are you excited to see Taylor collaborating with Disney’s Searchlight Productions?
