When we visited Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort for the first time last year we were instantly in awe of those that ordered the Kitchen Sink. To say that it is huge is an understatement. Drew and I knew that there was no way that we could ever tackle such a challenge on our own. Luckily when we visited again in September we had back up.
A friend and fellow blogger was vacationing at Disney the same week so we made plans to meet up and have a late lunch at Beaches and Cream. Since there would be four adults and an ice cream loving child, we felt confident that we could handle the challenge, we were wrong.
For those of you that don’t know, the Kitchen sink is comprised of 8 scoops of ice cream, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and mint chocolate chip, every topping they have including peanut butter and chocolate chips, bananas, cherries, angel food cake, brownies, a milky way candy bar, oreos, hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, sprinkles, and half a can of whipped cream.
The menu says the Kitchen Sink feeds four people. They must mean four people who haven’t eaten anything else that day. We ordered our usual burgers and fries before tackling dessert. Rookie mistake. We needed at least four other people to even think about finishing it.
It was a fun experience though. The lights in the restaurant flash and they make an announcement each time a kitchen sink comes out. Other guests look at you like you’ve lost your mind. And the look on the face of my friend’s little boy was priceless. His eyes said it all, you mean we get to eat all of that! My recommendation is to come hungry and with plenty of reinforcements. Because in this epic battle, the food won.
