Taika Waititi Will Not Return to Direct Marvel’s ‘Thor 5’
Insider.com recently interviewed Waititi to discuss the possibility of his involvement in another Thor movie.
When questioned about Marvel’s potential development of another Thor installment, Waititi stated, “I wouldn’t be able to confirm that. What I do know is that I won’t be part of it. My focus is on the other films I’ve committed to.”
Critics and fans had mixed reviews of Waititi’s last Marvel effort, Love and Thunder. So many will not be heartbroken to learn that Waititi will not be returning for a fifth Thor film. Even Waititi himself expressed dissatisfaction with specific elements of “Love and Thunder” indicating his disappointment with its outcome.

While he may be finished with Marvel for the time being, Waititi shared that his Lucasfilm Star Wars project is still on track. Waititi is currently working on a big-screen adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s graphic novel “The Incal,” and is still developing his Star Wars film. “It’s still marinating. I’ve been writing it,” Waititi says of the “Star Wars” project.
Waititi reflected on his time spent in the MCU saying, “…But I love Marvel, I love working with them. I love Chris,” referring to the “Thor” star, Chris Hemsworth. Waititi added that he wouldn’t be heartbroken if Marvel decided to move forward with Thor without him. “I would never feel like they are cheating on me,” said Taika. “We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that. I’d still get back into bed with them one day.”
