It’s almost time for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to officially open! Previews have already begun, and among some of the first guests are some members of Boys & Girls Clubs’ FIRST Robotics programs. They were invited to test out the new roller coaster as part of continuing workforce improvement efforts. They were also the first to hear the news that Disney will be donating $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.

First up, the students got a full education about the planet Xandar, its history, culture, and technology from Cast Members. They were then able to meet with some of the Imagineers who developed the ride and see the team concocted the first-ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster.

But the day was not done for these talented students. It was also announced that Disney would be donating another $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, adding to the previous $500,000 granted. To honor the 50th Anniversary celebration, they are committing to helping expand students’ comprehension of robotics, as well as aid undertakings in helping them achieve their goals in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). Gary Cain, President & Chief Executive Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, thanked Disney by saying, “Disney continues to create out-of-this-world opportunities for our students and we are blown away by their continued investment. With this support, we’re able to continue our mission of inspiring and enabling all young people to realize their full potential.” (Disney)
