Stitch Strikes Again: Disney Digitally Toilet Papers Cinderella Castle in Nostalgic ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Ad
Fans of Disney’s most chaotic blue alien got a blast from the past this week as a new social media ad for the upcoming live-action “Lilo & Stitch” film paid homage to one of Walt Disney World’s most infamous promotional stunts.
Shared across the official Instagram accounts for Walt Disney World, Disney D23, and Disney Parks, the new video features the newly-rendered, live-action version of Stitch rolling into view before Cinderella Castle. But the iconic landmark looks a little different – it’s digitally covered in streams of toilet paper and features graffiti on one of its turrets.

The scene is a direct callback to November 2004, when, for the grand opening of the now-closed Stitch’s Great Escape attraction in Magic Kingdom, Cinderella Castle was physically decorated overnight to appear as if Stitch himself had run amok.
This new digital ad meticulously recreates that look, right down to the toilet paper placement. There’s one subtle update: while the original 2004 graffiti declared, “Stitch is King,” the 2025 version cheekily reads, “Stitch was here.” The video then dramatically zooms out, showcasing the full, digitally rendered ‘vandalism’ in all its mischievous glory.
Walt Disney World officials were quick to assure park-goers (or perhaps, relieve them) that the current makeover is purely digital. Cinderella Castle has not actually been toilet-papered again; the ad uses visual effects to stir nostalgia and build excitement for the new film.

The ad serves as a clever marketing move, tapping into long-time fans’ memories of the bold 2004 stunt while introducing the new live-action look of Experiment 626 to a wider audience.
