Disney Research recently presented one of their most recent projects: Stickman, which is a human scale acrobatic robot.
This new robot utilizes a “gravity driven pendulum launch” which allows the robot to produce a variety of somersaulting stunts. Watch the video here as Stickman, the acrobatic robot, produces a series of flips in the air resembling a human acrobat in the process.
Anyone who steps foot inside one of Disney’s Parks can see that Disney is constantly striving to make advancements in technology and in all the ways in which they entertain guests. Whether it is projection faces on animatronics or ride technology to simulate you on flying through the air on the back of a banshee, Disney is continually striving to find new ways to improve the guest experience throughout the parks.
The possibilities are endless as to how Disney could use Stickman. And while it may be a while until we see it put to use anywhere in the parks, it continues to show us Disney’s Research team is still hard at work.
