Steakhouse 71 Grand Opening Breakfast Review. In under 3 months, Disney transformed the space previously occupied by The Wave into Steakhouse ’71. Not only did they redo the whole space, but they also updated the menu. We got a chance to go this morning for the Grand Opening breakfast. Our hopes were rather high after previously seeing the menu online, and knowing how good The Wave was.
Named for the year Disney’s Contemporary Resort first opened, Steakhouse 71 harkens back to the design style of the 1970s, reimagined in a contemporary, comfortable and sleek way. You’ll even notice some Florida flair—such as Orange Bird and citrus groves—mixed in with the décor.

Steakhouse 71 Seasonal Pancakes – Seasonally-inspired Pancakes with a choice of Bacon, Pork Sausage, or Chicken Sausage

One of the holdovers that got a small makeover was the Floridian Eggs Benedict – Two-poached Eggs and Crab Cake with Hollandaise atop Toasted English Muffins served with Breakfast Potatoes
Walt’s Prime Rib Hash is delightful and filling, but not heavy. We had heard from others that Steakhouse 71 has its own steak sauce, and to try it on the Hash. What a treat that was. I will never eat hash with meat without steak sauce again. The pancakes are also well prepared. Stick to your ribs good, as any real pancake should be. The seasonal pancakes now are pumpkin or pumpkin spice, I always mix them up anymore.
The Floridian Eggs Benedict are so well done. Nothing like cutting them in half and the yolk just drools all over the toast and crab meat. The hollandaise sauce was not too lemony and fit the crab meat well.
Overall, we had high expectations of Steakhouse ’71. Our personal opinion is Disney hit it out of the park here. Whoever was in charge of the overall Contemporary Resort refurbishment, needs to be put in charge of every refurbishment at any Disney World Resort. From walking into the new lobby, up to the new walkway into Steakhouse ’71. The whole scene is gorgeous and we are happy to have been at Steakhouse 71 Grand Opening.
