Stardust Racers at Epic Universe Remains Closed as Universal Completes Inspection and Upgrades

Guests visiting Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe may notice one of the park’s headline attractions sitting quietly on the launch track for now. Stardust Racers, the high-speed dual-launch coaster in Celestial Park, has been closed since February 19 and will remain down for several more weeks as Universal completes its first annual inspection and maintenance process. The attraction was originally expected to reopen sooner, but Universal has now extended the closure through at least April 5 while additional improvements are made.

Stardust Racers at Epic Universe Extends Closure till Early April

According to Universal, the temporary closure is part of a planned maintenance program designed to keep the attraction running smoothly and safely. During the downtime, teams are conducting a full inspection of the coaster while also implementing enhancements to improve ride capacity and overall guest throughput. Reports indicate that some of these changes may involve updates to the queue area, which could help the popular coaster move riders through the line more efficiently once it returns to operation.

Stardust Racers is one of the signature thrills inside Epic Universe’s Celestial Park. The dual-launch coaster sends riders racing across more than 5,000 feet of track while reaching speeds up to 62 miles per hour and heights of 133 feet. Guests board comet-themed trains and blast into a cosmic race that features the dramatic “Celestial Spin,” an inverted crisscross moment where the two coaster trains intertwine mid-air in a dazzling display of lights and music.

While extended closures can be disappointing for guests hoping to ride, they are not unusual for major roller coasters. Attractions periodically close for inspections, seasonal maintenance, or operational upgrades that help ensure long-term performance and safety. Universal says it expects Stardust Racers to remain closed through early April, though an exact reopening date has not yet been confirmed.

Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025 as Universal Orlando Resort’s fourth theme park, joining Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. The new park features five themed worlds including Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.
