Star Wars Lingo Has Been Added to the Oxford English Dictionary

Star Wars Lingo has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary!

The Oxford English Dictionary has just released a list of new words and quite a few are from the Star Wars  universe.

The first (and possibly most important) word added is “Jedi”. The definition for “Jedi” reads, ““In the fictional universe of the Star Wars films: a member of an order of heroic, skilled warrior monks who are able to harness the mystical power of the Force.”

“Force” was naturally already in the dictionary, but the definition has been updated to feature the Star Wars version of the word too. It calles the “Force” a “mystical universal energy field”. The word(s) “Mind Trick” have also been updated with a note saying “See also Jedi”.

Other Star Wars words include “Padawan” defined as “an apprentice Jedi” and litesabre defined as “a weapon resembling a sword, but having a destructive beam of light in place of a blade.”

Try using Star Wars lingo in your next game of scrabble!
